Work is already underway on site and current occupiers include:
- North Yorkshire County Council
- Hambleton Steel Ltd

- Sowerby Gateway - (See our image gallery here)
Castlevale and Broadacres are proposing to submit a planning application for permission to develop a site known as Sowerby Gateway, located to the south west of Thirsk (with Sowerby), a Principal Service Centre in the District of Hambleton that is well served by road, rail and bus routes.
The site comprises some 56 hectares of land to the south west of Thirsk (with Sowerby) and sits either side of Topcliffe Road, bounded to the north by Green Lane (bridle path), to the west by the East
Coast Mainline/TransPennine Rail Link and the south and east by Topcliffe Road.
The proposed development comprises approximately 920 houses of which 40%, i.e. at least 370, will be affordable.
13 hectares of employment land form an integral part of the scheme along with proposals for a neighbourhood centre comprising retail, leisure and associated uses such as a health centre, 3.3 hectares for a primary school along with 7.8 hectares allocated for community uses including recreation, community park and allotments and associated cycle and car parking, public open space areas and landscaping.
The scheme is to be developed over the plan period of the Local Development Framework, spread over fifteen years.
This allows for an integrated and sustainable approach to the strategic expansion of Thirsk (with Sowerby).
